5-Amino-1MQ?
5-Amino-1MQ, also known as 5-amino-1-methylquinolinium, is a small-molecule compound with the molecular formula C₁₀H₁₁N₂⁺. It inhibits nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), an enzyme involved in nicotinamide metabolism.
NNMT has been studied in connection with obesity, aging, metabolic regulation, and energy homeostasis. Changes in NNMT activity may influence NAD+-related pathways, cellular energy processes, and adipose-tissue biology.

Nicotinamide is a form of vitamin B3. The body uses it to make NAD+, which helps cells produce energy.
NNMT is an enzyme that processes nicotinamide. 5-Amino-1MQ works by blocking this enzyme.
In published preclinical studies, 5-Amino-1MQ reduced body weight and fat mass in diet-induced obesity models. A later study also found that it limited weight and fat-mass gain.
These findings have created scientific interest in 5-Amino-1MQ and its potential connection to metabolism, fat processing, and weight management.
